Basics of Sound Healing

If you are new to sound healing, it is recommended to start here.

Meaning of Healing

The term healing refers to widely recognized beneficial influence of certain frequencies on the energy body. They are, however, not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any diseases. Please refer to the disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

Hz

1 Hz equals to 1 cycle per second. 2 cycles per second are 2 Hz, etc.

1 kHz is equal to 1000 Hz.

Hz is pronounced Hertz. kHz is kiloHertz.

If a certain occurrence takes place, e.g., every 100 seconds, which is referred to as period, the frequency will be a reciprocal: 1/100s, that equals to 0.01 Hz.

How Could Sound Be Healing?

All is vibration. Sound is vibration. Try tuning yourself to certain frequencies, and certain reaction will occur.

Raising vibration means applying a resource that causes vibration to rise, makes energy flow higher. Not only yours, but also the world around. And raising vibration of the world around will make your vibration rise.

Sound is similar to light in these terms, which has been found healing for the energy body on various levels, depending on the frequency and the given form.

Octaving Down and Up

Frequency divided or multiplied by 2 and its powers gives a lower or higher octave of the same sound. Just like smaller and bigger apples among oranges. For example:
•   136.1 Hz
•   272.2 Hz
•   544.4 Hz
• 1088.8 Hz
• 2177.6 Hz
are the same sounds in various octaves, having similar properties, on various levels. The example (136.1 Hz) is related to Earth year.

Since certain frequencies are too low or too high once calculated, they need to be octaved up or down, in order to be placed in a certain range, which lets them be used for tuning forks, chimes, as infrasounds, ultrasounds, for intervals, etc. Even for drums.

How Could a Sound Be Related to Earth Year?

The frequency of a year could be calculated just like in the aforementioned example of 100 seconds:
1. Duration of a year in seconds is
    365.242189 * 24 * 60 * 60
2. Reciprocal (multiplicative inverse) is
    1 / (365.242189 * 24 * 60 * 60)
3. Octaving up, until it reaches at least 100 Hz:
    2^32 / (365.242189 * 24 * 60 * 60)
4. After rounding, this results in 136.1 Hz, which is the frequency of 1 year.
5. The result can be also octaved down or up.

This calculation has been discovered in 1970s and has highly influenced the development of sound healing.

If you want to calculate anything else, try the same process for a frequency of exactly 1 day. This is also considered a healing sound. Another option could be orbits of planets and other cycles. The results could be later compared with what exists and is referred to as healing.

Other Beneficial Frequencies

Beside planetary sounds (Earth year, Earth day, planets, etc.), frequencies recognized as healing include:
• spectrum (e.g., octave in scientific pitch),
• Solfeggio (e.g., 528 Hz),
• natural frequencies (e.g., DNA),
• Angel tuners,
• Moses code,
• and more.

Intervals

Interval (exactly: harmonic interval) is a difference between two frequencies that are played simultaneously.

Example:
• Sound 1 – 256.00 Hz
• Sound 2 – 341.33 Hz
result in a ratio of ~4:3 (which is ~1.33), creating an interval of 85.33 Hz.

Example:
• Sound 1 – 256.00 Hz
• Sound 2 – 384.00 Hz
result in a ratio of 3:2 (which equals 1.5), creating an interval of 128.00 Hz.

Last example:
• Sound 1 – 256.00 Hz
• Sound 2 – 512.00 Hz
result in a ratio of 2:1 (which equals 2.0), creating an interval of 256.00 Hz.

It is worth noting that in case of using intervals, the whole influence comes not only from both used frequencies, but also from the interval itself. For instance, using 256 Hz and 266 Hz, or 16384 Hz and 16394 Hz simultaneously, will result in creating 10 Hz—alpha brainwave. As a result, while 2 frequencies are played simultaneously, 3 take effect.

Energy Points

All of this can be applied to energy points. Whether chakras or other accupuncure points, this would have certain influence on the energy body. Frequencies that are considered generally beneficial and could potentially be applied to any point include:
• 128.00 Hz – C in scientific pitch,
• 136.10 Hz – Earth year,
• 194.71 Hz – Earth day sidereal,
along with their corresponding octaves.

Using intervals for this purpose (e.g., 128 Hz with 256 Hz, or 136.1 Hz with 272.2 Hz) is also considered beneficial.

Basing on literature specialized in this matter is advised.

Playing and Generating Healing Frequencies

Healing frequencies could be played using i.a. the following instruments:
• tuning forks,
• chimes (very valuable because of high frequencies),
• singing bowls,
• gongs.

Frequencies could be also:
• generated using any software (e.g., ffmpeg, Audacity),
• downloaded from a reliable resource (available here soon).
